Classic Cold Crab Dip

For Christmas Dinner, my Aunt has started the tradition of bringing the most delicious and pretty appetizer to kick-off the evening. She had originally seen it posted on Instragram by @mad_about_food. Being that we live in Florida, she was able to source wonderful, fresh crab and a zippy cocktail sauce from a local fish shop, Pinders. Good quality is a must for this simple yet decadent dish. If you would like to make your own cocktail sauce, @mad_about_food provides details on how to make a great sauce on the original recipe post. Thank you to Madeline and Aunt M for sharing this yummy appetizer!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Lump Crab Meat
  • 12oz spreadable Cream Cheese
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • Good Quality Seafood Cocktail Sauce
  • Parsley, optional garnish
  • Crackers

In a bowl, mix the crab meat with juice of half a lemon, lemon zest and paprika. Just before serving, spread the cream cheese in a thick circle on a platter. Top with the seasoned crab meat and then pour the cocktail sauce over the crab. Option to garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with your favorite, simple-flavored crackers.
