J Bar Margarita

I have always been a fan of margaritas but am always hesitant when ordering them out at a restaurant as so many places use bottled mixes that consists mainly of corn syrup. The best margaritas are made from scratch when you squeeze fresh limes and make your own mix. My brother, Jay, has mastered many cocktails, but his signature drink is his Margarita. After performing extensive R&D, he has perfected the most refreshing, sunny afternoon margarita. Lucky for all of us, he has shared his winning combination. Cheers and thank you, Jay!

Margarita Ingredients

  • 2oz Margarita Mix (see below)
  • 4oz Silver Tequila
  • Juice of 1-1.5 Limes
  • Splash of Soda Water
  • Lime Slices, for garnish
  • Salt, if desired

Margarita Mix

  • 5 parts Hot Water
  • 1 part Pure Agave Nectar
  • Splash of Triple Sec

Make the Margarita Mix by mixing the three items together to your desired amount. For scale, it is recommended to do 5 cups water to 1 cup agave nectar. Chill the mix before mixing.

Shake the ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker, or stir if in a pitcher, and then strain into a glass with rocks or “up”, whichever is your preference. Garnish with slices limes to “make it fancy”, as our friend’s four-year-old son says.

If salt is desired, rub the rim of the glass with the lime slice – this will make the salt stick to it. Fill a shallow dish with the salt and then dip the glass rim into the salt. And if you’re on Round 3, remember to rim the glass before filling it!! 😉

DID YOU MAKE IT & LOVE IT?
