Some drinks just take you back in time to a special place. For me, a blend of ice cream, rum & Kahlúa transports me to our family cottage in northern Michigan. ‘The Hummer’, as dubbed by it’s original creator in downstate MI, is the signature cocktail at our favorite restaurant, The Grey Gables. I recall as a kid trying to sneak a sip of the adult milkshake, and being so excited the first time I was actually able to order my own. When it came to planning our wedding menu, there was no question that mini-Hummers would have to be served. Thankfully our awesome bartender was up to the task of mastering this special dessert cocktail. Our guests are still humming about this delectable treat!
Makes 1 Cocktail
- 2 Ice Cubes
- 1½ ounces of Light Rum
- 1½ ounces Kahlúa (coffee-flavored liqueur)
- 2 scoops of good-quality Vanilla Ice Cream, such as Haagen-Dazs
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Mix, pour, drink, and start humming!
