Sometimes a vodka soda is just not going to cut it. Step up your cocktail game with this frozen concoction that reflects the flavors of a sunny, summer afternoon.
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Vodka
- 1 Cup Simple Syrup
- Half a Watermelon, puréed
- 1 Lime, juice only
- 10 Basil leaves, chopped
- 4 Cups Ice
Cut the watermelon into chunks, and place into a blender with the basil. Blend until smooth, and then strain out the pulp. In a large pitcher, add the watermelon juice, simple syrup, lime juice and vodka. Whisk together and adjust sweetness by adding water or sugar. You could serve the cocktail at this point by mixing it with soda water, and serve it over ice.
To create a frozen drink, add the watermelon mix back into the blender with the ice. Blend until chunky and smooth. Serve immediately and garnish with slices of watermelon and basil leaves.
Beautiful! Yum! I must give this combination a try!
Thank you! Yes, they’re delicious. Let me know if you have any other great combos!
Will do! I simply need some sweet potatoes, otherwise this would be tonight’s dinner! Tomorrow most definitely!
Excuse the typo! lol! I meant watermelon!!! The sweet potatoes were meant for another dinner dish! So sorry! I have a bumper crop of herbs and my basil is screaming “use me!!” I have never tried watermelon & basil & this sounds so refreshing!
